Cost of AHA (Vic) Membership
General Hotels
Membership fees are based on the size and scope of the particular hotel operation according to the venues yearly wage outgoings (as per WorkCover Remuneration Documentation). A sliding scale of fees ensures AHA (Vic) membership is both affordable and equitable for all hotels, where larger hotels pay a little more and smaller hotels pay a little less.
AHA (Vic) membership runs for one year from the date of commencement i.e. payment of membership fees. A direct debit, pay by the month option is also available for your convenience.
Gaming Hotels
AHA (Vic) membership for Gaming Hotels is based upon their number of Electronic Gaming Machines (EGM’s). A base membership fee is payable together with a contribution to the Gaming Venues’ Code of Practice and HotelCare Community Projects fund.
Gaming Venues’ Code of Practice and HotelCare Community Projects fund
In accordance with resolutions made by the AHA (Vic) Council, a levy is collected to recognise the cost of administering the Gaming Venues’ Code of Practice. This includes programs such as Self-Exclusion, AHA (Vic) participation in the Victorian Gaming Machine Industry body, as well as providing the Venue Operators’ Code to all gaming hotels. The fee is calculated by applying $5.50 per EGM at each venue.
Several years ago the AHA (Vic) established the "HotelCare – Community Projects" program to provide funding to worthwhile initiatives in the broader community. A governing body was created to preside over funding allocations and to identify options to maximise the profile of the hotel industry to Government and media organisations.
The fee is based on $22 per EGM at each hotel. Traditionally the HotelCare funding has been used as "seed" capital to raise charitable funding from wider industry circles. The HotelCare fund has also enabled appropriate hotel industry representation at various political conferences and events.
