On April 18, 2017 the Commonwealth Government announced it would be replacing the 457 visa programme with a new Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa. The TSS will support businesses in addressing genuine skills shortages, while containing a number of safeguards to prioritise Australian workers.
AHA (Vic) has been advised that hotels will not be unduly affected by the changes to the visa framework, and that cooks and chefs will remain on the occupation lists that underpin the new TSS visa subclass.
More information is provided in the fact sheets;
- Fact sheet one, and
- Fact sheet two.
Members wishing to discuss these changes should contact AHA (Vic) on 03 9654 7100.
